Summer with kids means looking for ways to keep them busy. Sometimes this means reaching out to family, local outings and summer camps. This is a new experience as a mother, because growing up there were no summer camps. The only fun stuff during the summer was summer school; because this meant I could still hang out with my friends. Fast forward to being a mother. I realize, I am blessed both my hubby and I try and give boys a balanced summer. Every summer for a few weeks my boys go visit my family in the Central Valley. This is something we began many years ago; I think my oldest was just 3 years old now he is 12. It has turned into a summer tradition. My boys go for a few weeks, all depending how long they can go and that my parents are able to have them for this extended time.
Then when they head back home, we join the camp movement. For Diego my 12 year old it means Junior Lifeguard and a few other sports camps. Adrian my younger one who is 6 this will be his first year of summer camps. He is excited and will also be doing some sports camps this year. This is experience is both exciting and sad, exciting and they get to experience something new and sad, because of course this means they are getting older. I have yet to meet a momma who doesn’t get sad thinking of the kiddos growing up.
